Where does Cold Stone catering serve?
We're based at Cold Stone Creamery South Orange and cater across New Jersey. The truck, sundae bar, and indoor catering are normally available within about 40 miles; farther events may still be served for an additional travel charge, and we'll consider events up to about 100 miles away. We're also happy to look at New York events case by case.
How far do you travel for catering?
About 40 miles from our South Orange base is our standard catering service area. Beyond that we can often still come for an additional travel charge, and we'll consider events up to about 100 miles away — exact availability and any travel cost depend on your event address.
Does the 40-mile service area apply to both the truck and the sundae bar?
Yes. It's one catering-wide rule — the same roughly 40-mile standard area applies to the Ice Cream Truck, the Sundae Bar, and Indoor Catering.
Do you charge extra for events more than 40 miles away?
Yes — an additional travel charge applies for catering bookings beyond about 40 miles (truck, sundae bar, or indoor). We confirm the exact amount with your quote based on the event location.
Is there a minimum, and how much does catering cost?
Catering starts at a $500 minimum engagement, and we offer discounts on select packages. Every event is quoted custom based on your date, location, headcount, and format — share your details for a quote.
Does the ice cream truck need electricity?
No. The truck is self-sufficient and does not need access to your electrical power.
How much space does the truck need?
About 12 ft by 6 ft of space for the truck.
How much space does the sundae bar need?
About 6 ft of table space for the sundae-bar setup.
How long does the sundae bar take to set up and break down?
About 30 minutes to set up and about 15 minutes to break down.
Who handles permits?
The customer handles any permits the venue or municipality requires. Not every event needs one — it depends on the location.
How far ahead should I book?
About a week ahead is ideal, so we can lock in your date.
Can I book last minute?
Last-minute requests are welcome — we'll try to accommodate them when availability allows. Just ask.
Is the Cold Stone mixing experience available as an add-on?
Yes — there's an optional add-on where our staff mix the ice cream for guests, the Cold Stone way. Ask us about it when you book.
Can I decorate or theme the sundae bar for my event?
Yes. You're welcome to style the table and the area around the sundae bar to match your theme — colors, balloons, signage, and the like. Just note that we provide the Cold Stone catering experience itself, not event decor or styling, so any decorations are yours to bring.
What's the difference between the ice cream truck and the sundae bar?
The branded Cold Stone truck comes to your location and is the outdoor party centerpiece. The staffed sundae bar sets up on a table indoors and works year-round. Both serve real Cold Stone creations, made to order.
Can you cater indoors or in winter?
Yes. The indoor sundae bar sets up inside and runs year-round, so ice cream catering isn't just for summer or the outdoor truck.
What kinds of events do you cater?
Corporate events, office holiday parties, school events, college and campus events, birthday parties, and community events, along with private gatherings. Each has its own page with the details.
Do you cater back-to-school events?
Yes. We cater first-day-of-school celebrations, PTA and PTO welcome-back nights, back-to-school bashes, open houses, and staff welcome events across New Jersey — outdoors from the ice cream truck or indoors from the staffed sundae bar. Back-to-school season is busy, so booking early helps lock in your date.
Do you cater college and campus events?
Yes. We cater college and campus events across New Jersey — orientation, move-in weekend, homecoming, greek life socials, student-org events, and staff and faculty gatherings — with the ice cream truck for outdoor crowds and the staffed sundae bar for indoor spaces. We're based in South Orange and serve the towns that host area campuses, including Seton Hall University, Montclair State University, and Caldwell University. See our campus events page for details.
